what's going on you guys it is the talking Sasquatch and it's great to have you back now if there's one thing you're going to know is if you put something on the internet people are going to find it and if you post Flipper Zero content on the internet I'm going to find it as you guys all know if I find it I'm going to post about it because you know you guys deserve to know this stuff too recently on Telegram Pavl the founder of Flipper Devices posted a video on something that I thought was a dead project but it turns out the Flipper 1 lives not only does it live but there's a ton of information that he's got on it and it shows that they spent a lot of time researching and developing this device so today I'm going to share all the information that I've learned about it and I'm going to introduce you to something that pretty much no one else has heard of like did you know there's going to be an official Flipper Zero video game it's going to be like a cyberpunk dystopian future kind of thing where you use a Flipper Zero to do puzzles and all sorts of cool stuff we have so much cool content to go over today i am pumped let's get at it all right so obviously both of the ~ Introduction Segment Removed ~ projects we're going to be talking about today are very very early in their development this means that things could change pretty much over and over and over again you never know what the final product's going to be like the Flipper 1 has been out well at least the idea has been out for years now and I've even talked about it in videos but they kind of scrapped the project and they moved on to the Flipper Nano which I made a whole video on the Flipper Nano they kind of scrapped that project and now they're going back to the Flipper 1 now the Flipper 1 is cool so as I mentioned earlier Pavle actually posted about this on Telegram it was about a 26 minutee long video and it was all in Russian but I was able to get it translated and learn some cool stuff so let's take a look at this video all right so let's check it out so this is a little bit of a lower resolution video than I typically have but I mean obviously it's been screen recorded and there's a bunch of stuff going on so it's going to be a little bit lower resolution but check this thing out this is the Flipper 1 it's a really really cool form factor and I am psyched for it now Pavle does say that this form factor they have pretty much approved but they may be moving buttons around and things like that so as I said before expect things to change now what won't change is this segue to today's sponsor PCB Way pcb Way is your one-stop shop for PCB design manufacturing CNC sheet metal fabrication 3D printing and more i've worked with PCB Way time and time again on different projects and those guys are absolutely awesome like check out this absolutely gorgeous clear case for my Lily Go Tek they've got components they've got tools they've got cool gadgets sometimes I just look at the module store and it inspires me to make new projects so head on down to pcbway.com and see what they have to offer thank you so much you guys are the greatest let's get back at it now ~ Sponsored Segment Removed ~ they've got a new slightly larger screen but with a better resolution which is pretty cool now here you can sew like kind of the side view or the bottom side view so you can see there's an SD card right there now I got to say I really like the way this thing looks it's kind of got like a otter box or like a a tough book kind of vibe to it with what look to be maybe rubber bumpers and it's got a metal carabiner or like a some sort of hook to hook it on things and that's really cool to be able to just like throw it on your bag great features now there's actually a short from Sam X Blogs i think that's how you pronounce it but it shows actually a way better render of it and some IO plugged into it which is very very cool so you get kind of an idea of what it might be able to do in the future again none of this is set in stone and they did mention they may possibly move buttons in the future but again we'll just have to wait and see now when we move on down to the bottom here you can actually see an SD card slot which of course it's going to need an SD card slot but we're missing potentially what could be more IO on the bottom we'll see what they do in the future so now they did do this is a brand new custom screen that they're doing it's 256x 144 which is roughly double the size or at least double the resolution of the current screen they did choose to do one bit again which I think is a missed opportunity yeah maybe you can run this thing for a month on low battery mode or something but if they put a full color display on this I think it would just add a lot of usability to it and if I got cut down to a week use even a full day use that would be fine if I had a color screen i think that would just be really really cool just throwing that out there and then yeah now we can see our screen actual size which looks like it's I'm assuming that's 2.39 in question mark i don't really know but just judging by the overall form factor that's probably around the size of the screen all right if we move on let me find the slide that I want to see actually just scroll down here we go this is kind of an interesting thing am I paused i'm not paused i'm paused okay so there's going to be kind of two different states for this device going to be the powered on mode and the powered off mode now with the power off mode the MCU or the microcontroller unit I don't even think they have that nailed down which one they were using that'll be doing things like showing the battery life when you plug it in it'll tell you how much battery is charging or also they were talking about potentially being able to plug in sensors and using it in kind of a low power mode so you're not running the CPU now the CPU is what runs the boot loader and then ultimately the operating system and that's really the heavy lifting of this device and because the CPU does the heavy lifting that's why you don't always want to use that because that's how you extend your battery life now just like the original idea for the Flipper 1 they are going to be running Linux as the primary operating system which I think is absolutely awesome furthermore actually if we move on a little bit in the video skip through this here we go this is really cool this shows effectively how they want their control structure to work as far as their bootloader goes now notice if you actually look at this they have a completely different set of controls on here which goes to show that they've been kind of going back and forth with the design for a while so again things are always subject to change but right now you can see they have Flipper OS which I'd be super interested to see if it's just the normal Flipper OS um how they change things obviously they showed a picture in the first render but either way then they also have Kali Linux and Debian so you've got a large list of tools if anybody knows what Kali does you've got a lot of tools involved in using Kali as well now they also mentioned a bunch of times being able to use this as like an Android TV or a video game emulation device I think would be super super cool because I mean for obvious reasons you can just plug it in and have your Android TV and then you could just use it as like an emulation system you'd probably want to plug a controller into it but hey you know people are clever maybe they could figure out a way to at least play some rudimentary games with this thing so yeah they go on for a while showing off a lot of control structure a lot of control structure okay cool so this is kind of their like bar napkin sketches of this and I really really like that i am totally into the fact that these are handdrawn sketches and they're not like finished polished any of that stuff cuz this is how these projects really start off so right here they kind of show the control structure and kind of the workflow diagram for opening a simple FTP so I'm assuming you just click the radio box right there for the FTP and then it pulls up FTP port and username and that's going to open like an on-screen keyboard or something like that which would be really really interesting they kind of show how this works here running NMAP so they're just showing NMAP they're going to do a new scan and then it's going to open up the host IP here we go if I can move down it's a little hard to navigate this since I'm navigating a video of the displays but whatever and then that opens up a keyboard so the interesting thing is they actually designed the keyboard layout to be multi- language friendly because obviously this device it's not just going to be in English or whatever language so they tried to do the best they could with it and that's why they actually came up with I believe a slightly taller and aspect ratio display just to make sure that the keyboard works properly so that's very very cool moving on so yeah one of the things I think is really cool about this is the fact that they're trying to use Linux but on a very very basic display now if you've ever seen a project like a Hackberry Pi most of those use like a full-sized tactile keyboard and a full-size actual display now that's really cool when you're using like something like Cali and you need a full display because you need a monitor however then you also still need a keyboard and then you have a pretty large device so what Flipper 1 tries to do is basically make its own UI over the top of these different operating systems so that their simple little tiny display and controls will work for it as well i think that's a super super awesome idea and I'm definitely on board for this one of the other things that they talk about here they're showing the start scan button and the back button also with help and save in the middle but those are both soft and hard buttons so the buttons underneath the display themselves will be the back button the start button the button and so on so I think that's a really cool idea and it really allows them to kind of make this whole thing feel more cohesive again I really like the way they're implementing this now they also talk about if I move forward here so they're talking about using the buttons the same way as a smartwatch so if you say double tap a button it's going to open up like the app loader or if you triple tap or long tap it it'll do different things which again it shows they put a ton of thought into this device already and most of this video is actually talking about like UI navigation and stuff so the fact that they put this much thought into that low level or that far into the implementation of this device shows that there's a really good chance that they may actually make this thing all right actually if we skip all the way up to here you can see that he's got an entire notebook of all these things going on he's got all the stuff written down figuring out how he wants the buttons to work how he wants the controls to work so again there are a ton of kind of baby documents on this thing however there's another cool thing that they're talking about and I don't want to get too far into it because I don't even fully understand flip CTL so that's a new idea so it kind of sounds like Flip Control or whatever is going to be an operating system that you can install into these different devices like you can see here i wonder if they scroll out can we see more of these devices but it actually shows he's kind of like outlining how something like that would work as a bootloader or an operating system for different devices just like here so it sounds like and again I could be completely wrong about this but it sounds like they actually want to make a flipper OS that can be loaded onto these different devices that people may either already have or you know just makes it a little bit more accessible so that's a really really cool idea flip control or whatever it's called that's a whole other can of worms and I really don't know that much about it but I can tell you that if I learn more about it then we'll definitely go over it because I feel like it's an extremely cool idea just to be able to you know bring a little bit of Flipper to other devices so yeah that's some of the basic stuff that we know already about the Flipper 1 obviously again things are going to change however I'm also hoping that they're going to tell us a lot more from the spec side of things because they've got a render and kind of a form factor which is a really really cool thing to have however what we're missing is what it's going to do now we remembered earlier when we saw that short it showed it with at least two Ethernet cables looks like a HDMI cable and looks like a USB typeA cable so that's a great start for some you know IO for it but I really want to see the rest of what's going on also the other thing I didn't see which was a little bit disappointing was the traditional Flipper zero GPIO what I'm talking about are these top holes right here i really want to see these top holes cuz I kind of like everyone else we have a ton of boards already and it would be a real shame if we didn't get to use them in the future i feel like it would be kind of a hindrance to the entire community in general if we get rid of them cuz the community spent a ton of time developing with these GPIO boards making them and then if you just kind of abandon the platform or abandon the the GPIO pens I don't know i just feel like it's a missed opportunity and it kind of hurts the community in general but that's just my feeling on it so yeah that's pretty much what we know about the Flipper 1 so I had mentioned earlier on that is a actually a flipper zero video game and that's really freaking cool so let's check it out now introducing Reserition i think the cyber security hacking game for residence to repercussion uh yeah the name is extremely hard to say i couldn't possibly type it or spell it without looking it up so the name hopefully is a work in progress but that's if there's one thing I really wanted to point out is the fact that it's going to be real hard for people to find your game if they can't pronounce it or spell it and that's speaking as somebody who has a misspelled name Sasquatch without a T hard to search for and it took a very long time for the search engines to actually find me if you search for the wrong name so just a heads up now this game seems to be produced by R2R Game Studios and it's officially licensed by Flipper Zero or by the Flipper team or Flipper i don't whatever they're called they're It's officially licensed by Flipper so you know it's a real deal game so yeah it looks like it's supposed to be like a cyberpunk/watchdog watchdog style game and you're going to use a flipper zero to solve puzzles and hack stuff which sounds pretty damn fun now if we scroll down this is epic it's not an actual flipper zero you use in the game no cuz this happens in the future you don't want past tech for this no no no let's take a look at this absolute Chad of a Flipper Zero i mean I love this animation look at this it is so freaking cool look at that that is the flipper zero that you have in this game i'm just going to scroll through that one more time because my god this animation is fantastic now you got a jog wheel on the side some sort of port there they have what looks to be GPIO ports flipper see they didn't get rid of them scroll down we have kind of a normal flipper zero actual controls honestly I think the Flipper 1 has the cooler looking controls but at neither there nor here but they did add a little bit of a key loop right there but look at this notice full color screen full color screen it's the future i'm telling you you want the full color screen this thing looks absolutely sick now I was going to show you the trailer but there's really nothing in the trailer it's 40 seconds of like atmosphere so you get to hear some people talking with Russian accents or whatever who cares but if I scroll down here you can see there are some pretty cool images around here where did I find the cool images let's scroll around so yeah this video right here shows kind of the I guess GPIO hacking so you're plugging into whatever that is and then you're unlocking a safe that's kind of a fun little puzzle um shows you know just running around crouching cyber punking doing whatever you normally do in video games i mean it's an Unreal Engine game and it looks like an Unreal Engine game which means it looks pretty darn good also it looks like you're going to have a powerful drone companion which is pretty cool they haven't actually coded that into the game yet it looks like but again that could be a really cool addition to this game so yeah it's scrolling around looking at more of the thumbnails of it i mean looks kind of like Mr robot kind of and then there's your drone friend you know there's a bunch of cool stuff going on so yeah it's post-apocalyptic cyberpunk posts Soviet hacking stealth parkour game it checks a lot of boxes whether you like it or not yeah that's all I got on the flipper one at least for now and on the Resurrequition Reser I'm not I can't pronounce or remember that name i'm very sorry but yeah all of this stuff well I've known about the game for a little while but the video on the Flipper 1 and the renders and stuff has come out really recently and I feel like not that many people have seen it so I felt like this was the ultimate opportunity to show all you guys how cool this thing is now I really hope they don't give up on this project i don't see any reason why they would honestly because a they've got to do something flipper's done and I mean the trending's going down on it like it's not as cool as it used to be and the only thing really pushing forward are the GPIO and add-on boards brought by the community but I feel like there's really only so much the community can do because they've been out there making boards for a long time and there's only so many things you can do so yeah what are you guys thinking about the Flipper 1 and the new reper the new game leave a comment down below are there any other topics you want to see me dive into let me know down in the comments as well as always you guys are absolute legends we'll catch you next time hey hey Back To Top
